Performance Plastics, Ltd. is one of a few molders with a long history of expertise molding PEEK, Ultem (PEI), UHMWPE, PFA, FEP, fluoropolymers, PPS, Aurum, and Torlon.  This section provides a series of charts to aid in the process of material selection.

Click on the chart titles, No Filler:  continuous use temperature,  chemical resistance,  stiffness, impact,  wear resistance  or With Filler:  stiffness,  wear resistance,  friction,  for a graphic display of the material properties.  Of course, this is too general to be your only design resource.   For more help, please CONTACT US at Performance Plastics!

Click these links for a detailed discussion of the characteristics of these materials.

  • PEEK   close to being an all purpose material that will never disappoint.

  • PEI, Ultem  exceptional chemical resistance and low shrink.   Tight tolerances and low warp.

  • PFA and FEP are Fluoropolymers  impervious to most chemicals, excellent corrosion resistance.

  • PPS,  trade names Ryton and Fortron, a replacement material for thermosetting phenolic resins.  They have exceptional flow characteristics and a common metal replacement.

  • PI, Aurum is the finest bearing material available. High load/low friction properties not duplicated with other injection moldable materials.

  • PAI, Torlon®, the highest tensile strength of all non-filled, injection moldable materials.
