Chemical Resistance: In
highly corrosive atmospheres and chemical environments, high performance
polymers are corrosion resistant in places metals fail. PTFE is better
than exotic metal alloys. Strength and Impact Resistance: Glass
or carbon reinforced plastics perform well even in high strength /
tensile applications. PPS can even outperform titanium in some
applications. Friction and Wear Resistance: Plastics can offer excellent wear resistance coupled with a low coefficient of friction. Plastics can out perform metals in many aggressive environments. We have developed and worked with many plastic material formulations to provide outstanding friction and wear performance. Low Coefficient of Thermal Expansion: Plastics can match the CTE of steel and aluminum. Eliminate Secondary Machining Operations: Molded plastic parts can provide outstanding sealing surfaces for poppets and seal componets as well as provide excellent wear surfaces without costly secondary machining operations. Hydrolysis and Moisture Resistance: There are plastics that can retain mechanical properties and dimensional stability when exposed to water or steam at elevated temperatures and pressure. Part Count and Cost Reduction: Designers
will appreciate the complex shapes that can be easily molded allowing
them to combine parts and reduce piece counts. This added
versatility will reduce costs. Performance Plastics will help you design and develop the most cost effective functional parts. We can even work on multiple parts making up an entire product.
