injection molding requires extraordinary equipment and the skilled
people to operate it. Performance Plastics is continually upgrading,
with most injection machines 1994 models or newer. Auburg or
Cincinnati Milacron machines, rated up to 220 ton and 52,000
psi, are used in the 20,000 square foot manufacturing facility.
The
latest auxiliary equipment, including hopper dryers, granulators,
oil/water and electrical mold heaters, temperature baths,
ovens, loaders, tumblers, and robotic sprue pickers are in
service.
Testing
& Inspection
Tight tolerance parts require the most advanced inspection
equipment, like the Brown and Sharp Reflex CMM. Of course we
also have pin gauge sets, digital calipers, optical
comparator, and micrometers, as well.
AQ/S-SPC
software assures that parts consistently meet specifications
throughout the part run.

The extensive machine shop includes CNC machining, EDM, grinding,
turning, and boring machinery. This provides complete, in-house
control for the most precise tooling, mold and die requirements.

and highly skilled machine tool operators.

Secondary
Machine Operations
Customers have another option to produce plastic features
in plastic parts other than molding with PPL - secondary machining.
There are a variety of reasons why post-molded features in
plastic parts would be machined and make sense for customers.
The most common is to reduce tooling cost. The part volume
requirements may be low, and because of certain features are
complicated from a tooling point of view; the economics of
the program are in jeopardy. Reduce the cost by machining
this feature.
Tolerance
control or a severe undercut condition are other reasons in
which machine work would make sense. Improving the part quality
by part diaphragm gating and eliminate the weld line is another.
