Peek® - PEEK - Polyetheretherketone

PEEK is a high performance thermoplastic, well suited for high temperature and wear resistance applications. It has excellent mechanical properties and a flexural modulus among the highest of all plastic resins. The addition of glass and carbon fillers increases its strength and thermal stability. Glass filled PEEK has a heat distortion temperature of 315C and a continuous use temperature of 260C, with excellent mechanical properties retained to over 300C (570F). Because of its superb all-around properties, PEEK has been used successfully in many metal replacemement applications.

Unfilled PEEK meets UL94 V-0 requirements and generates extremely low levels of smoke and toxic gas emission in fire situations.

PEEK has outstanding chemical resistance, even at elevated temperatures. It resists most common organic compounds, and is not attacked by water or pressurized steam, up to 550 degrees F, even when stainless steel has a problem in this environment. PEEK also has low moisture absorption.

"Down hole" drilling applications are excellent for PEEK.

PEEK is also an FDA approved material.

PEEK has great impact strength. It is used in the compressor industry for Poppets, seats, and valve plates.

Carbon fiber PEEK has proven itself for the chemical processing industry as a bearing for butterfly valves. In the liquid chromatography market, it's purity and resistance to concentrated acetic acid makes PEEK the preferred material of construction.
