POLYMER BLEND 45

Polymer Blend 45 is a proprietary material, blended by Performance Plastic Ltd., that exhibits excellent wear/friction properties in a cost effective manner. Polymer Blend 45 is a 50/50 blend of PTFE and PPS (Ryton from Chevron/Phillips). These materials have established a reputation for chemical resistance and high temperature capabilities. PTFE provides low friction and elongation to enhance PPS's high strength.
Together, they produce a moldable material similar to acetals (Delrin/Celcon) in physical attributes, but much better temperature, chemical and bearing properties (low friction, less heat build-up).

Because PB-45 is totally polymeric, with no abrasive mineral, glass, mineral, or carbon fiber additives, PB-45, can be used against cold rolled steel, reducing the cost of shafts in an assembly. Bearing properties are superior gto the typical materials used in this application.

Because PB-45's static and dynamic frictional properties are essentially the same, it is used as a clutch material where stick-slip issues are over riding concern.
