PEEK Molding
Surgical Head Restraint
This surgical head restraint system shown below was converted from titanium to PEEK. The plastic allows for accurate MRI imaging without interference from a metal assembly. The PEEK components need to be very stiff to provide accurate and stable placement on the patient. Performance Plastics provided a PEEK material with high modulus carbon fiber that offered 5.7 - 6.3 million Flex Modulus - approaching the strength of some light aluminums

Ultem Molding
Surgical Device Components
This Blade Guide is molded from Ultem in a 5-way Cam Action mold, necessary to produce the holes required in this part. We were also able to direct gate the part and incorporate a hot runner system to reduce material usage and significantly reduce cost. The Ultem meets the sterilization and high voltage requirements of this application.

Surgical Blade Cover
This Ultem surgical blade cover demonstrates our thin wall molding capabilities, and ability to maintain tight tolerances.
